The Greatest Feeling in the World is an album that will be remembered in one of two ways. Either this will be a collector’s item in 20 years after Morning… have topped the rock charts, or it will be that album by that band whose name you can’t remember. This album is completely polarizing, the rawness of songs like “Business” sometimes struggle to balance creativity and relevancy. While “Mailbox” is different, it too suffers, the simple and somewhat effort free chorus makes the track sound like it was just written. Similar defects continue throughout other songs on the album as many songs seem like a rough cut, as opposed to a released song.
Taking into account that this is the New Jersey band’s first showing, the album is far from poor. On the contrary, The Greatest Feeling in the World’s top single, “Move Your Head” has the potential to garner radio plays given the right DJ decides to take a risk. Some maturing down the road, mixed with guidance and a little bit of effort may just shape Morning… into the band they (and I) hope they soon will be. If looked at as a rough draft, then it isn’t unreasonable that when polished, edited and refined that the next album by Morning… could be a bestseller. Sadly, I’d much rather listen to them then, not necessarily in their current state.
