The Game of Monogamy. That’s the title of his debut solo album and it already says a lot about Tim Kasher’s dissolution of his personal life (bitter divorce in 2000). I had expected anger with screaming matches throughout the album. To my very contrary, it’s a compilation of 11 rather peaceful melodies.
I still can’t put a finger on his style and whether I like it. I enjoy “The Prodigal Husband” very much because of its mellow tunes. “There Must be Something I’ve Lost” casually makes a comparison between love and God, and touches upon some uncomfortable territories of relationships. Oddly enough, I still enjoy the songs regardless of the lyrical mismatch.
The 36-year old musician is originally from Omaha, and has been in the industry for over a decade. He’s also taking up screenplay projects to diversify the artist portfolio.
