Who Are They? Over the last 12 years, Lucero’s sound has moved from straight-ahead punk towards some amalgam of alt-country, southern rock, and punk. In that time, the band has released seven albums under a few different labels, and has toured extensively in North America.

Why Should You Care? Because Lucero is likely the best band in the genre that some have labeled “cowpunk.” Their songs are surprisingly tight considering the amount of instrumentation in them (especially on recent records), and their sound is relatively unique.
