Rocking Under The Radar: Reader’s Wives

Dublin rock outfit, Reader’s Wives, composed of Niall James Holohan (guitars/vocals), Chris Morrin (guitars/keyboards/vocals), Disko (bass), and Doug Farrell (drums) offers a distinct sound and a twinge of humor that is a good time.

In 2008, songwriter Niall James Holohan produced an album of his best twelve tunes with a view to starting a band called Reader’s Wives. Once tracked, Niall passed rough mixes of the album among friends in the Dublin underground, looking for the right musicians to build his musical vision. The band took to the road, fast becoming one of Ireland’s most active bands in Europe. Fast forward 18 months and Reader’s Wives are a full quintet with a distinct sound making their mark. Last year, their debut Secrecy & Sex EP was released to critical acclaim in Ireland, the UK, and Europe. The band then released a second EP entitled, Victor’s Mother Juliet written and recorded in it’s entirety at the band’s apartment off Dublin’s Dame Street.

This band offers a variety of great music from slower ballads like “Working All Week” and “Beautiful Angel;” to faster paced rock in songs like “Advertising Heroin” and “Sexually Attracted to Myself,” Readers Wives are a good time; they deliver laughably fun music.

Stand out tracks: “Victors Mother Juliet,” “Working All Week,” and “Everything’s Better With You”
